MARIMBA Africa Opens 2007 Concert Series
Thursday, June 14, 6:30 p.m.
Picnic Shelter A, Fort Snelling State Park
Concerts at the Confluence returns to Fort Snelling State Park again this summer.
Bring a picnic dinner and join us the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm as we
celebrate some of the diverse cultures of the Twin Cities.
Our first performers, Marimba Africa, will play African, Zouk, Kwasa-kwasa, Soukous,
and Reggae music. They can often be heard at the Blue Nile in Minneapolis.
The sounds from this band will get your feet movin' and your body groovin' even if
you don't dance! Join us and tear up some lawn at Picnic Shelter A.
With Siama Matuzungidi and Yusuf Shalita on guitar, this band takes you back to its African roots. Performing regularly throughout the Twin Cities and the Midwest, they have shared the stage with such artists as Burning Spear, Kanda Bongo Man, and The Wailers.
Admission to the concerts is free with a park permit. Permits can be purchased for the day or for the year. In the event of rain, the programs will be held in the visitor center. For further information about any of the concerts, call 612-725-2724.
